Kojo Addae-Mensah
Group Chief Executive Officer, Databank Group

Kojo Addae-Mensah is an accomplished banker with over two decades of banking experience. He has worked in Multinational banks like Standard Chartered and Barclays Bank, where he played various roles across Africa. He was also the Chief Operating Officer of GCB Bank before he took up his current role as the Group CEO of Databank, Ghana’s premier and biggest Investment Bank. Outside of work, Kojo is a national TV pundit and hosts various shows on radio from time to time. He is a Director of the Changing Lives Endowment Fund, aimed at supporting bright and needy children, and he is also undertaking a similar project in his hometown of Abetifi on a personal level to improve JHS results. Kojo is motivated by his desire for excellence and positive results, which is reflected in every task that he completes, both inside and outside of the office, and in the people that he surrounds himself with.

Frankie Hayford
Executive Director, Databank Group

Frankie Hayford is an Executive Director of Databank Group. He has over 20 years of experience in the fields of manufacturing, financial services, business and social research, and management consultancy.

He is a Board member of Trust Bank Limited in The Gambia and Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Bank. Frankie also serves on the Boards of Bayba Financial Services Limited in The Gambia, and International Bank (Liberia) Ltd. He is also the Resident Director of Databank Securities Ltd in The Gambia, a position he has held since September 2000.

Frankie has been very active in private business. Over the years, he has held the following positions: General Manager of The Gam Chemists Ltd; General Manager of Zingli Manufacturing Company Ltd, and; Managing Director of The Rice Bowl (The Gambia) Ltd. He also represented a number of Institutions in The Gambia including Databank Financial Holdings Ltd and SOFTtribe Ltd. His areas of specialization and interest include Managerial Economics, International Business and Strategic Management.

He holds a BSc degree in Management Sciences from the University of Manchester in the U.K

Alex Boahen

Alex Boahen
Head, Databank Research

Alex Boahen is the Head of the Databank Research team. He currently supervises a team of Economists as well as Financial and Equity Analysts who cover Ghana and selected s ub-Saharan African markets. Alex provides regular expert commentary on the economy and capital markets in Ghana to local and international media. He brings on board 7 years’ experience in equity research, investment banking and corporate valuation.

Alex joined Databank Group in 2011 as a Senior Equity Analyst, where he provided coverage of the Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Oil Marketing and Cocoa Sectors in Ghana. Prior to joining Databank, Alex was a lecturer at Regent University College of Science and Technology where he taught corporate finance, investments management and derivatives for two years. He also worked with CDH Securities Limited as an Investment Banking Analyst.

Alex holds an MSc in Finance from the University of Gothenburg (Sweden) and an MSc in Business Administration and Economics from Stockholm University (Sweden).

Armah I.J. Akotey
Head, Databank Brokerage Limited (DBL)

Armah is the Head of Brokerage at Databank Brokerage Limited (DBL) – a licensed dealing member of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). He is responsible for the development and execution of the strategic intent of the firm. Armah has over 12 years’ experience in Ghana’s Securities Industry. He has an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of Ghana’s capital market, particularly equity and fixed income markets.

Prior to this role, he supervised the Trading and Back Office operations of DBL. Armah has been instrumental in the maintenance of DBL’s strong equity trading on the GSE, as well as developing strategic trading relationships in North and South Africa.

Armah holds a Dealers’ Representative License of the Securities and Exchange Commission (Ghana) and is an Authorized Dealing Officer of the Ghana Stock Exchange. He is also a professional member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (Ghana). He holds a postgraduate degree in Finance (MBA) and a BA in Business Administration (Finance and Banking) both from the University of Ghana.

Deborah Armah Akotey
Chief Investment Officer, DAMSEL

As Chief Investment Officer, Deborah provides strategic guidance to Databank Fund managers to effectively manage their investment portfolios. She provides directions for the development of investment policies and strategic asset allocation plans, explores innovative and new approaches to the investment process and steers the affairs of the Investment Committee. Having worked in Databank for over 12 years in various capacities, she has extensive experience in investment banking. This includes in-depth knowledge of asset classes, investment products and strategies that generate consistent alpha.

Until her appointment to this role, she was the Head of Institutional Business, responsible for managing a team to execute the discretionary mandates for institutional investors. Deborah was also the Head of the Fixed-income subcommittee of Databank’s Investment Committee. Prior to joining the Institutional Business, she was the Fund manager for Databank Balanced Fund. She has also worked with the Financial Control team of Databank Group in various capacities and has been involved with the financial control functions of Epack, Ghana’s largest equity mutual fund.

Deborah holds an MSc (Accounting & Finance) from Manchester Business School in the UK, and a BSc in Business Administration (Accounting option) from University of Ghana Business School, Legon. She is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) and a CFA Charterholder.

Dela Obeng-Sakyi
Head, Legal & Compliance, Databank Group

Dela Obeng-Sakyi is a Barrister at law and is currently the Head of Legal & Compliance at Databank. She provides legal advisory services and ensures effective management of all legal and contractual risks. She oversees the effective management of all legal aspects of the Firm’s business relationships and ensures regulatory compliance within the Firm.

Prior to heading the Legal department, Dela served as the Senior Legal Officer for Databank Group. She was also appointed as the company Secretary of Databank Money Market Fund Ltd., Databank Balanced Fund Ltd., and Databank Epack Investment Fund Ltd. in 2016. Preceding her work with Databank Group, she worked with BentsiEnchill, Letsa & Ankomah, and the Minerals Commission.

Dela is recognised for her excellent analytical, research and writing skills, as well as her competitive and diligent abilities. She also has good working knowledge of the French Language, and loves reading, swimming and snowboarding.

Dela was called to the bar in 2001, and holds a Qualifying Certificate of Law from the Ghana School of Law, an LL.M in Mineral Law & Policy and Sustainable Development, Renewable Energy & Policy from the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, U.S.A, and an LLB degree from the University of Ghana.

Emmanuel Quarm
Financial Controller

Emmanuel is responsible for administering the finances of the Fund. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Cape Coast as well as a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Coventry University. He is also responsible for the finances of Databank’s group of companies. Prior to this role, he was the Head of mutual fund reporting for Databank Asset Manangement Services Limited.

Evelyn Ofosu-Darko
Chief Operations Officer, DAMSEL.

Evelyn is the Chief Operations Officer for Databank Asset Management Services Ltd. (DAMSEL). She has over 10 years’ experience in fund management, managing funds for high-net-worth clients, provident and pension funds of blue-chip companies, endowment and insurance funds as well as mutual funds. She also has hands-on experience in Fund Administration and general operations of the Asset Management business. She co-managed Databank’s flagship fund (Databank Epack Investment Fund Ltd.) for four years. Working with the company for over 13 years in various capacities, Evelyn has built for herself a solid background in the asset management business.

Prior to joining Databank, Evelyn worked at Unilever Ghana Limited and Darko Farms.

She holds an MSc. in International Marketing Management from the University of Surrey, UK and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Ghana Business School.

George C. Attopany
Group Head, Information Technology (IT), Databank Group

George C. Attopany is the Head of Information Technology of Databank Group. He has over 18 years working experience in telecommunications, IPS and enterprise information technologies in the finance and banking industry. His working experiences range from Data Communications and Networks, Wireless networks for rural Internet services/telephony and corporate Internet Service Provision and related technologies. He also has experience in the business development and sales of large scale Internet Capacity on submarine fiber optics.

Prior to joining Databank, George worked at Standard Charted Bank’s West Africa Regional Data Centre as a Telecoms Engineer. He also served as a consultant and representative of several international telecommunications firms based in the UK and other European countries, where he assisted with the implementation of monitoring solutions for a telecoms regulator. He is an active member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.

George holds an advanced Master of Science degree in Telecommunications with Business from University College London, United Kingdom, and a BSc degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from KNUST.

Gillian

Gillian Hammah
Group Chief Marketing Officer, Databank Group

Gillian Hammah is the Group Chief Marketing Officer for Databank. She is a dynamic and versatile individual with over 22 years’ experience in financial services. She is currently responsible for jointly leading a Marketing team comprised of project managers, copy writers and graphic designers, as well as a sales team of over 100 staff across 19 branches.

Prior to joining Databank, Gillian worked for Invesco Canada – one of the leading asset management firms in North America, with branches in over 20 countries. She has proven success in creating and executing award-winning marketing campaigns, both in Canada – where she lived for 19 years – and in Ghana. In Canada, she led her company to win awards for the Best Investment Rich Media Online Campaign by the Internet Advertising Competition as well the Top 3 iPad apps in Canadian financial services by the Canadian Marketing Association. She also won an award for Best Advertising Campaign at the 5th annual Ghana Investment Awards.

Gillian is recognized for her strong management and strategic planning capabilities, as well as her proven ability to build and lead a sales team that can consistently deliver results in spite of tight budgets and tough economic conditions to help move the company forward. She is an inspiring and decisive leader, who is motivated by excellence and results, which is reflected in every task she completes.

Gillian holds a Bachelor in Business Administration from York University in Toronto, Canada and a Masters in Marketing Strategy from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon.

Nii

Nii Anyetei Ampa-Sowa
Head, Databank Asset Management Services Ltd. (DAMSEL).

Nii Ampa-Sowa is the Head of Databank Asset Management Services Ltd. (DAMSEL). He is currently responsible for DAMSEL’s ultimate performance by directing and controlling the Company’s operations and management. Nii provides strategic guidance and direction to ensure that DAMSEL achieves its mission and objectives with a view to creating shareholder value and business sustainability. He has over 13 years’ experience in research and fund management.

Prior to this role, Nii worked as Chief Investment Officer of DAMSEL. He played a supervisory role over Fund Managers of DAMSEL and managed Databank Epack Investment Fund as well as Databank Balanced Fund. Preceding this, he headed the Research Department of the Group.

Nii has deep research interest in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCGs), Brewery and Bottling, Cement and Construction, Telecommunications, Hotels and Leisure, and is recognized for his outstanding analytical and research capabilities.

Nii has a MSc. Investments degree from the University of Birmingham, and a degree in Economics from the University of Ghana.

Pebbles

Pebbles Parkes
Programme Manager, Databank Foundation

Pebbles manages Databank Foundation. With over 13 years’ of work experience in banking and development, Pebbles is responsible for identifying, planning, and implementing projects that contribute to community development. She is also responsible for establishing sustainable partnerships for the Foundation, as well as raising funds to support all initiatives undertaken by the Foundation.

Prior to joining the Databank Foundation, Pebbles worked as the Partnerships and Fundraising Coordinator at Reach for Change (Africa Region), where she provided support for incubator programmes and networking opportunities for social entrepreneurs in 6 African Country offices. Preceding this, Pebbles worked with Enablis Ghana as a project assistant. She has also worked as Country Coordinator for Trust Africa, Deputy Branch Head for Prudential Bank Limited and Compliance Associate at Barclays Plc. London.

Pebbles is recognized for her skills in strategic planning, team building, people management, negotiation and partnership development. She is passionate about improving educational outcomes, pursuing equal opportunities for vulnerable groups, social entrepreneurial and financial literacy.

She holds an MSc in International Development with a focus on development projects, rural poverty and development and policy making from the University of Birmingham. She also holds a BSc in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST).

Theresa Kwofie
Head of Human Capital & Administration, Databank Group

Theresa is the Head of Human Capital & Administration at Databank. She is responsible for providing an effective people strategy to support the achievement of business objectives in the Firm. She has over 12 years’ experience in Human Resource Management, Office Management and Administration.

Prior to her current role, Theresa served as the Human Capital & Administration Operations Manager where she was responsible for providing high quality leadership and managing an effective and efficient Human Resource operations function which delivers proactive and business focused HR advice and services.

Preceding her work with Databank, Theresa worked with an Accra based U.S. refugee resettlement agency CWS/OPE as a Case Processing assistant where eligible refugees from the Sub-Saharan African Countries were processed for resettlement in the United States of America.

Theresa is an Alumna of the University of Leicester, U.K. and the University of Ghana, Legon. She is also a Senior Certified Professional with the Society of Human Resource Management and a member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management, Ghana (Formerly IHRMP) .
